Standard Key Management by OSS

The first step is a Key Transport Card (KTC), which provides a standardised and secure way
to obtain key material for electronic locks or card readers from multiple suppliers and brands. BSI-TL 03424 postulates that the key in an access control system must be created by the user
and that the user must be able to replace the key himself if necessary.

For OSS-compatible devices, there should be a standardised way of transporting keys into the
device to avoid the need to use different tools from different manufacturers.
